At the core of our design philosophy is a simple but essential belief: we design for our clients, not ourselves. Every project is an opportunity to create a home that reflects the people who live there—honoring their style, their stories, and the way they want to experience their space. The sitting room at The Liberty Project is a perfect example of this approach, blending personal heritage with modern comfort to create a space that feels both meaningful and effortlessly livable.
One of the most special details in this room is the wallpaper, adorned with delicate ginkgo leaves. For our client, this wasn’t just a design choice—it was a tribute. The ginkgo leaf holds a deep sentimental connection to her Asian heritage, reminding her of her grandmother. By incorporating this element, the space became more than just a sitting room; it became a place of comfort, memory, and connection.
Beyond aesthetics, we designed this space to be as functional as it is beautiful. Knowing our client’s love for a clean, modern, midcentury-inspired aesthetic, we balanced simplicity with warmth to create a true family home. Soft, sheer window panels frame a cozy armchair, inviting quiet moments of relaxation. A heritage chest adds depth and history to the space, while a thoughtfully designed closet—complete with abundant shelving—ensures that toys and everyday essentials can be tucked away with ease after playtime.
What makes this room so special isn’t just the design itself, but how deeply it reflects our client’s life, history, and style. As designers, our role isn’t to impose our own tastes—it’s to guide, curate, and bring our clients’ visions to life in ways they may not have imagined. At The Liberty Project, this sitting room is a testament to that philosophy: a space designed not just for beauty, but for the people who call it home.
